diwai

Kuanua: ‘dewai’/‘dawai’.

Etymology: Tryon (1995, part 3, p. 229), dewai (where ‘e’ is schwa). Roos (1992:371) suggests a more likely source is Ramoaana diwaai rather than Kuanua dawai.
